As I sat in stillness, searching for inspiration to write, a familiar song echoed in my mind. The lyrics spoke directly to my soul, reminding me that God’s word never returns void, but always fulfills its purpose (Isaiah 55:11). In that moment, the theme for this article dropped into my spirit: “What has been spoken about you?”
Someone shared a powerful story that has stayed with me. He told me how he had been struggling with feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. Despite his outward success, he felt like he was drowning in a sea of negativity. But then he stumbled upon a profound truth: God’s word carries more weight than the opinions of others.
He was going through a difficult season, feeling lost and alone. One night, he had a supernatural encounter, a vivid dream where he saw himself standing in a vast desert, surrounded by darkness. Suddenly, a figure appeared before him – it was Jesus! He spoke a single word: “Enough!” and in that moment, he felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He realized that His word was enough to overcome any obstacle, any doubt and any fear.
As children of God, we often face the temptation to let people’s opinions define us. But we must remember that their words are fleeting and lack the power of God’s spoken word. Jesus fulfilled every prophecy spoken about Him, and we too have words and proclamations that have been given about us. We must choose to live in the truth of those words, rather than the lies of the enemy.
Many of us feel like we’re under siege, with curses and negative pronouncements spoken over our lives by others, including our parents or the agents of darkness. But we must remember that Christ has made Himself a curse for us (Galatians 3:13), breaking the power of those curses. And as the Bible says, “Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, when the Lord has not commanded it?” (Lamentations 3:37). We must choose to listen to God’s voice above all others, and declare His promises over our lives.
The opinions of others may try to shape our identity, but we must find our true identity in God’s word. We are not who others say we are; we are who God says we are. And God says we are loved, accepted and enough.
As we explore the transformative power of God’s spoken word, it’s essential to remember that this is not just a theoretical concept, but a living reality that can be experienced by all. To illustrate this, let’s read Tinu’s story. Her testimony serves as a powerful example of how God’s promises can forever change our lives when we choose to believe and declare them.
“I was struggling with anxiety and depression for years, feeling lost and alone. But one day, I stumbled upon a verse in the Bible that changed everything for me: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’ (Jeremiah 29:11).
As I meditated on this verse, I began to realize that God’s plan for my life was not one of failure or defeat, but of hope and prosperity. I started to declare this verse over my life, praying it back to God and asking Him to fulfill His promises.
Slowly but surely, I started to see changes in my life. My anxiety began to lift, and I felt a sense of peace and hope that I had never felt before. I started to see that God was working in my life, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
Today, I can confidently say that I am living out God’s spoken word in my life. I am no longer controlled by anxiety and depression, but I am walking in the freedom and hope that God has promised me. And I know that no matter what challenges come my way, God’s word will always be my foundation and my guide.”
In the Bible, we see examples of people who lived out God’s spoken word. Abraham was called the father of faith, and his story shows us the power of believing God’s promises (Romans 4:18-22). Moses was called to lead the Israelites out of slavery, and his story demonstrates the importance of believing God’s word (Exodus 3:10-15).
How can we apply God’s spoken word in our daily lives?
1. Meditate on God’s word daily, allowing it to sink deep into your heart and mind.
2. Journal your thoughts and prayers, and reflect on how God is speaking to you.
3. Pray God’s word back to Him, declaring His promises over your life.
Remember, faith is a muscle that must be exercised to grow stronger. As we choose to believe and live out God’s spoken word, our faith will increase, and we will see the power of His word at work in our lives.
Affirmations:

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to listen to Your voice above all others. Let Your word be the foundation of my life, and may I stand on Your promises in every situation. Help me to reject the lies of the enemy and to embrace Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
In conclusion, the spoken word of God has the power to transform our lives. May we choose to listen to His voice above all others, standing on the truth of His promises. May we live out the words and proclamations that have been given about us, and may we find our true identity in Him.
