Seeing through His eyes

by ashestobloom

Happy New Month, dear friends! It’s been a while since I shared here, but my heart has been overflowing with lessons and revelations I couldn’t keep to myself. Life has been moving swiftly, full of experiences that have shaped my perspective. Yet, in all that has happened, one truth stands out, a simple yet profound wisdom my husband recently shared with me. He said, “You can’t find your life, you’ll lose it.”

At first, it seemed like a paradox. But when I pondered on it, it made perfect sense. The more we try to define ourselves through our own understanding, the less we align with God’s divine purpose. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 16:25, “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” Trying to grasp control over our own destinies often leads to frustration, while surrendering to God’s will opens the door to true fulfillment.

If we’re honest, we all long to see the full picture of our lives. We want quick answers when we pray. We desire clear roadmaps when God speaks to us. I, too, have been guilty of this, wanting to know every single detail before taking a step of faith. But life doesn’t work that way, does it?

Think back to childhood when we scribbled or painted pictures. To us, they made perfect sense, but when we showed them to others, they struggled to understand. Only the creator of the drawing could explain its meaning. In the same way, our lives are a masterpiece in progress, and only our Creator truly understands the vision. That’s why Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

The journey of faith is not about having all the answers, it’s about trusting the One who does. Psalm 119:105 beautifully says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Notice that it doesn’t say God’s word is a floodlight revealing the entire road ahead. Instead, it’s a lamp, illuminating just enough for the next step. That’s where faith comes in, believing that even when we don’t see the whole picture, God is guiding us.

Comparison is another thief of peace. We all have our unique life manuals, written by God Himself. When we measure our progress against others, we risk stepping outside of His plan for us. Trusting in God’s timing means embracing the journey at the pace He sets.

Surrendering sounds easy, right? Until we actually have to do it. If you’re someone who naturally wants to carry the weight of every decision, every plan, every uncertainty, believe me, I understand. But here’s the truth: The first step to real freedom is allowing the peace of God to fill our hearts. Philippians 4:7 assures us: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When we let go, we make room for His peace. When we stop striving, we make space for His direction. And when we surrender control, we position ourselves to walk in His perfect will.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, laying down my worries, fears and need for control. Help me to trust in Your sovereignty and to walk in faith even when I don’t see the full picture. Fill my heart with Your peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding. Teach me to rest in Your perfect timing and to find joy in surrendering to Your plan. I trust that Your ways are always higher, and Your plans are always good. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

As we continue in this new month, let’s carry this truth in our hearts: God’s plans for us are good, and His timing is perfect. No matter how uncertain life may feel, He is leading us toward a future filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11 reassures us: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

May we find the courage to let go and trust Him. May we rest in the knowledge that we don’t have to figure it all out because He already has.
